Pop Quiz: Tell me, which is the one subject that is all-pervasive on the internet??? Yeah, well....okay....porn is one, agreed. But after that?? You got it!! Jokes! Just try putting any word like jokes, humor, fun, laugh, etc. in a search engine and you'll know what I mean. And I bet more than half the e-mails you receive consist of jokes. Did you know that man is the only species on this planet that can laugh? But having the ability to laugh and having a sense of humor are two different things altogether.

From time immemorial, man has known how to laugh. In fact, jokes and laughter seem to have a universal appeal. But the ability to discern a sense of humor in everyday life, the willingness to see the humorous side in the good and the not-so-good happenings around us, well, that's a gift of a chosen few. Contrary to popular belief, comedians are not people who like to take life easy or those who sit back and make fun at the expense of other people. Human history tells us that some of the best comedians of our times came from humble beginnings and faced extreme hardships. The realization that life can be lived better and to a fuller extent by enjoying every moment of it was common to these people. It was probably their ability to see the comic side of things that made them big. To them comedy was simply a funny way of being serious! As someone once said, "To appreciate nonsense requires a serious interest in life."

A positive fall-out of a sense of humor is that it spreads "The Smile Virus" around and that's one virus that no one should mind being infected with. So go ahead and develop a funny side to your personality and come back when you have a sixth sense - a sense of humor.
